THE Big Lottery Fund is a well-known funding pot that pays out grants to great community groups, and today, Cumbernauld Primary School were successful in their grant application, for £6,995.

Their success means that the school will now be able to develop part of their concrete playground, into a new soft bond tyre park Play Area.

Commenting on the news, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth MSP, Jamie Hepburn said: “This is an excellent achievement for the staff and pupils at Cumbernauld Primary, and the award of this grant will help to enhance the play facilities at the school. I’ve written to the school to offer my congratulations, and look forward to seeing the new play area when it’s complete. Lottery funding can make a big difference to community-led projects, especially when there is a squeeze on local authority and other government sources of funding."

If you are a community group or organisation you can see if you are applicable for Lottery Funding by calling the lottery funding helpline on 0845 275 0000 or by visiting their website.
