EARLIER this week local MP Gregg McClymont lent a hand to the Cumbernauld Environmental Society, as work began on Phase 1 of their "Dullatur project," in Prospect Road.
The project has seen local gardening experts and enthusiasts work in conjunction with rangers from North Lanarkshire Council Environmental Services department, with assistance from Scottish and Southern Electric who have provided a number of volunteers.
With a little help from local councillors, children from Craigard Nursery, and Gregg McClymont MP the land was cleared of weeds and diseased trees, and a number of new species planted, in the first of a number of planned landscaping works led by Cumbernauld Environmental Society.
Commenting, Mr McClymont said: "I enjoyed my visit to meet the members of the Cumbernauld Environmental Society, and to see the work they have carried out on their first project. The progress they have made since the work began is astonishing, and I am sure that the project will continue to go from strength to strength."
