LOCAL MP, Gregg McClymont has discovered that Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs will see 2,600 fewer jobs, this year.
In a parliamentary question - asked by Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and East Kirkintilloch MP, Gregg McClymont, it was discovered that the UK Government planned for 2,600 fewer jobs at HMRC, by the end of the year.
Since the reply Gregg has found out that the Government will not rule out compulsory redundancies. Since asking the question, in Parliament, Gregg has told us that he is pressing the UK Treasury for more details on how the cuts will affect HMRC Cumbernauld.
Commenting, Gregg told Cumbernauldnl.info: "This news is worrying. This is the first time that Government have admitted the scale of job losses at HMRC, in 2011 alone. I will continue to pressure the Government for more detail on what these plans will mean for jobs in Cumbernauld."
