SNP MSP for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, Jamie Hepburn has contacted North Lanarkshire Council demanding action of Wyndford Road, which links Castlecary, with Banton.

Jamie decided to write to North Lanarkshire Council's Chief Executive, Gavin Whitefield, after a lack of progress, in re-opening the closed road, causing numerous constituents to contact Jamie, with their concerns.

In his letter, to Mr Whitefield, Jamie writes: “I have been contacted by constituents from Banton who are concerned that Wyndford Road, which links the A803 to Castlecary Road remained closed… You will recall that I previously wrote to you about this matter, setting out my concerns about the closure of the road, which is a vital route for various communities, and the closure of which caused major inconvenience to many local residents and businesses.

"I consider it too long a period has been closed now, and believe that it has be repaired and reopened as a matter of some urgency."

Commenting, Jamie Hepburn MSP told Cumbernauldnl.info: “It is simply unacceptable for the Council to take this amount of time to repair what is, a vital link for communities and businesses in Banton, Castlecary and beyond. It’s even more frustrating for local residents when there is no information or indication of when repairs might be expected. I hope the Council will take heed of the widespread local concern and act quickly to re-open Wyndford Road.”
