IN HIS first blog for Cumbernauld Media, John Allan from Get Cumbernauld Healthy talks all things inspiration, motivation and visualisation.
Like everything we do as human beings, action has to be preceded by thought. All our feelings are the results of what we have been thinking about. In fact, where you are right now in life has been brought to you by your feelings.
What we think becomes our reality and can be changed in an instant. Our thoughts are energy and impact in every area of our lives. If you are the type of person that is always asking 'why me' then you will continue to draw 'why me' situations to you. Whatever it is you are giving out as an individual, you will attract back to yourself. 100% GUARANTEED.
If you can never see yourself doing something or achieving something then not surprisingly it will never happen. Your thoughts will bring to you exactly what you think. Henry Ford said: “Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."
In the field of weight loss or more specifically fat loss, it is essential to see yourself as actually having reached your goal, having the body you dream of.
Visualization is KEY to success. Imagine how you will feel, how you will talk, walk and carry yourself. Imagine the confidence you will have coursing through your body. That in itself will stand you in good stead.
Your subconscious mind doesn't know if what your conscious mind is communicating to it is good or bad, positive or negative, fact or fiction. It just reacts to it. You have the choice to think positive thoughts about everything.
At this time of year everyone is 'motivated' to lose weight or get fit. Gyms are busy as are weight loss groups. Give it a few weeks and all that business tales off.
The answer, motivation is not strong enough for you succeed. To put it another way, motivation comes from outside of you. So, the hype surrounding 'New Year, New You', all the adverts in the media, friends all getting ready to get in shape it is easy to see how people get carried along on the wave of motivation.
When the advertising calms down, or the novelty of the gym wears off, or the results you want don't seem to appear to be happening quickly enough, what happens?
You get fed up, and think this isn't working, and stop. If on the other hand, as well as visualizing what it is you want to achieve you were to find your INSPIRATION, which incidentally comes from within you, then you become unstoppable. Inspiration is a powerful driving force and in my next article I'll tell you how to find your inspiration.
