ORGANISERS of this year’s Cumbernauld Gala Day have announced that planning for this year’s event has gotten underway.
The Cumbernauld Gala Day is organised by the Cumbernauld Community Forum, although a separate organising committee, from the Community Forum, was chaired from the end of last year to start the process of planning Cumbernauld Gala Day 2013.
Cumbernauld’s town Gala Day was previously run by the area’s District Council although the practise was killed off when North Lanarkshire Council preceded the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth District Council.
However, the area’s Gala Day was re-envisaged by the Cumbernauld Community Forum, in 2010. Meaning that this year’s event will be the fourth day organised by the town’s Forum.
Last year’s Gala Day saw Heather MacQueen of Cumbernauld High School crowned Queen, with most stalls, exhibits and visitors than the previous two events, according to the day’s organisers.
Last year’s event took place at Cumbernauld New Town Hall on Saturday 14th July, and this year’s date has been announced as Saturday 13th July, 2013.
“The Cumbernauld Gala is organised by the Cumbernauld Community Forum and the organisation of 2013's has now begun! The date for your diary is Saturday 13th July,” a statement from the Cumbernauld Gala Day Facebook declared.
