RUMOURS whirling around Cumbernauld about a bleak future for the town’s Police Station can now be put to bed.

Suggestions have been made locally that Cumbernauld would see its local Police Station pack up and head out of the town, as Police Scotland comes into force, in April.

Now, however, Cumbernauld Media can confirm that no such plans exist.

A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: “There are no plans to close Cumbernauld Police Station.”
The comments made by Strathclyde Police come after offline and online rumours that the area’s Police Station, on South Muirhead Road, was to close in the months ahead.

However, the local Police Station will continue to be based and operate fully, Strathclyde Police have confirmed, to Cumbernauld Media.

The spokeswoman added: “It remains a fully operational office.”
