Cumbernauld immortalised by new Facebook page

CUMBERNAULD has been immortalised on social media network, Facebook.

Launched on Monday, 1st April, 2013, ‘Old Cumbernauld Pictures’ quickly acquired a huge number of followers, with hundreds of images now available for public viewing on the group’s page.

The page now nears 3,000 fans and has acquired images from all over the town – past and present.

On Friday, 5th April, 2013, a group moderator celebrated the page’s early success.

“After only 4 days the page now has 2000 likes and has reached almost 17,000 Facebook users!!!” the post read.

“Thank you everyone for your interest, it has been overwhelming.

“Please keep sharing your Old Cumbernauld Pictures and we can make the page even bigger and better.”

Amongst the page’s pictures include images of the town’s CDC club, taken last month; Cumbernauld’s old Woolco; Cumbernauld Village; Phase 4 Shopping Centre and, a number of town aerial shots.

Welcoming the progress of the page, one of the page administrators said: “This page has now reached almost 53,000 Facebook users... More than the population of Cumbernauld! Thank you for spreading the word and telling your friends and family about the page. Keep sharing those Old Cumbernauld Pictures!”
