CUMBERNAULD’S Environmental Society heralded its 2013 Annual General Meeting, earlier this week, with an impressive turnout.
Held at Cumbernauld College on Thursday (11th April, 2013) the Society had, as ever, an important number of environmental matters to discuss.
Up for election as the Chairman, former Corporation worker, Bobby Johnstone was nominated, seconded and quickly reinstated in his role as the group’s Chair, a role he has always tackled marvellously.
Also reinstated was Vice-Chair, Adam Smith; Secretary, Donna Grant; and, Treasurer, Yvonne McPherson.

Moving on, the Society enjoyed a presentation from Ian MacKenzie, of the Scottish Wildlife Trust, who is heading up the Cumbernauld Living Landscape.
Ian discussed the same matters as he did at the Friends of Cumbernauld House Park, on Tuesday; talking about engaging the community and working with the correct partners to revitalise Cumbernauld’s natural landscape and ensure that the right environment is being used for the correct purposes.
Moving forward, the group discussed a number of projects and recalled the magnificent work which the Society has undertaken in the past year.
The group decided that all of its meetings will be held at Cumbernauld College, on the last Thursday of each month, at 7.15pm, starting next month (May).
