HOPEFUL North Lanarkshire Council housing tenants are to benefit from the publication of a new Tenant Information Pack by the local authority.

Full of useful advice and contacts the pack is specifically designed to educate tenants about their new tenancy; point them in the right direction for advice and support on housing matters as well as providing answers to frequently asked questions and situations which may arise in the term of tenancy.

"We've recently revised our pack to ensure the information we provide to tenants is up-to-date, relevant and meets their needs," explained Councillor Sam Love, Convener of Housing and Social Work Services.

The pack will include details of where and how people can pay their rent; what kind of repairs the council carry out and what tenants can do to help maintain their home.

Mr Love added: "In our latest version we've revised our repairs section, included more information on energy efficiency and fuel poverty. And, given the financial challenges people across the area are facing, we're also signposting benefit advice for those who may be in receipt of benefits or who may be entitled to receive these.

"North Lanarkshire Council's new complaints procedures are now in place and we're telling tenants about these too.

"The pack, which is produced by our housing experts, is given to every new tenant and is a vital source of information on all aspects of housing and holding down a tenancy."
