THREE Cumbernauld College students are hoping that local residents will dig deep as the HNC Events student trio gear up for their Mayfayre ’13, next Saturday.

Demi, Kirsty, and Tracey and HNC Events students at Cumbernauld College, and talking to Cumbernauld Media they said that their Mayfayre ’13 event simply comes down to their course choice.

“We study HNC Event at Cumbernauld College, and as part of our course we have to plan, prepare, develop and carry out an event; we have chosen to have a family fun day fundraiser,” the group told us.

The event will raise money for the Prince’s Trust, with the trio telling Cumbernauld Media they want the aims of the Trust to be “incorporated” into their event.

“Mayfayre ’13 will be in aid of The Prince’s Trust, an organisation which help develop key skills, confidence and motivation; enabling young people to move into work, education or training. We wanted to incorporate these aims within our event.

“All money raised on the day will go directly to a 12 week programme for youths led by Wilson Raphel, over at the Prince’s Trust at Cumbernauld College’s Kirkintilloch Campus.”

“Mayfayre ‘13 has created a lot of interest already and we are well on our way to making this event a successful one,” the group told Cumbernauld Media.

“We have hired Cumbernauld Town Hall as our venue; downstairs will be a tearoom with baking stalls, some information stalls, including The Prince's Trust - who will be in the foyer, whilst the upstairs will have 35 stalls; selling goods such as jewellery, baby goods, candles, and personalised glassware etc.

“There will also be tombola and raffles with prizes donated from local businesses such as B&Q. We also have a funfair, bouncy castles, the local fire brigade (& engine) face painting and more stalls all outside in the car park.”

The event will be held at Cumbernauld’s New Town Hall, and gets underway at 10am on Saturday 18th May, 2013, finishing at 2pm.
