LANARKSHIRE lung cancer specialists from the National Health Service and Maggie’s Lanarkshire are hosting monthly information-support services, and are inviting the public to attend the sessions.

Patients are invited to the first session on Wednesday 22nd May, at the Maggie's Lanarkshire services located within the residential accommodation at Wishaw General Hospital, between 2pm and 4pm.

Commenting, Lynn Irvine, lung cancer nurse specialist, said: “The sessions are aimed at people who have been affected by a diagnosis of lung cancer either personally or through a loved one as friends and family are also welcome to join the sessions.

“Each month a different aspect of living with and after lung cancer is discussed. Topics include explanations about treatment, nutrition, exercise and fatigue and discussing symptoms including breathlessness, cough and pain.”

Maggie’s Lanarkshire is a homely, welcoming place where people with cancer, or their family and friends, can receive the support and information they need, and people can drop-in for information, emotional and psychological support and to develop skills that might help them to live more positively with their cancer.

Lynn added: “It’s important that people with cancer and their family have somewhere to come along to for support and advice.

“The Maggie’s centre is a great place where people can drop-in anytime for a chat. The lung cancer sessions give people the chance to share their experiences and to enable them to learn from, and support, each other.”

If you are interested in attending the open session or would like more information, please call Maggie’s Lanarkshire on 01698 358 392 or visit
