THE Cumbernauld Colts Community Football Club has told Cumbernauld Media that they were “delighted” to welcome Scottish football legend, John Collins, to club training sessions, on Monday evening.

John turned up at the club’s home at Broadwood Stadium on Monday evening, at 5.30pm, to meet with some of the club’s players and present the club with its official Quality Mark Legacy Award.

The Cumbernauld Colts are the first community football team to receive the award and they have told Cumbernauld Media of their “delight”, at welcoming John to the club, and receiving the award.

At an interview on Monday evening, club spokesman, Arthur Stackpool told Cumbernauld Media: “John’s here in partnership with the Scottish Football Association A and McDonalds to recognise the fact that the Cumbernauld Colts have been given the Quality Mark Legacy Award.”

John was at Cumbernauld’s Broadwood Stadium between 5.30pm and 8pm, with the Scottish football star paying a visit to a number of the club’s training sessions, including the club’s Disability Football club.

Arthur added: “We are delighted about being presented with the award – not only to be awarded it but to be the first community football club, in the whole of Scotland, to have been given it. It’s a very special moment and is an indication that the club is moving in the right direction and doing things properly.”
