THE community of Cumbernauld are being invited to the inaugural Yes Scotland sitting of the Cumbernauld campaign, this evening.

In just under two hours’ time, Yes Scotland Advisory Board Chair, former Labour MP for Kilsyth, and once independent MSP for Falkirk West, Dennis Canavan will speak at a meeting of Yes Scotland in Cumbernauld Village.

The meeting will be held in the Village Hall, The Wynd, Cumbernauld Village, and will see Mr Canavan talk about his journey to supporting a Scottish split from the UK.

The former Labour politician will be alongside Cumbernauld and Kilsyth SNP MSP Jamie Hepburn, who both recently attended a similar meeting in Kilsyth, to which over fifty people attended.

“This is a fantastic opportunity not only for supporters to hear from one of Yes Scotland's high profile speakers but also for people to bring along any undecided friends and family who are interested in the debate around Scotland's future,” a Yes Scotland spokesperson told Cumbernauld Media.

The meeting will commence at 7.30pm, in Cumbernauld Village’s Village Hall, with those of all party colours – and none, invited along, to hear Mr Canavan speak about his journey to supporting Scottish independence.

Scots will go to the polls on Thursday, September 18th, 2014 and will ask ‘Should Scotland be an independent country?’
