CUMBERNAULD commuters are being warned about using fake Facebook accounts for travel information.

First Bus have warned service users, in Glasgow, that there are a number of fake Facebook accounts apparently misrepresenting fans that the page is the official page for the company.

The warning by the area’s largest transport provider follows the launch of a number of fake Facebook accounts – some of which try to mock the company and provide an online forum for disgruntled transport users to illustrate dismay at service issues.

On their website, First Glasgow alert services users to the group’s official Facebook account, to be found at www.facebook.com/firstglasgow

“We'd like to make our customers and stakeholders aware that there are a number of imposter facebook pages attempting to represent our company,” a spokesperson said.

“First Glasgow is not affiliated with any of these sites and we urge our customers to only visit the official First Glasgow facebook page www.facebook.com/firstglasgow

“We use our facebook page to communicate news, updates and promotions to our customers.

“If you do come across a facebook page pretending to be us please email us details at: glasgow@firstgroup.com”
