CUMBERNAULD’S Old Parish Church raised over £2,000 for Christian Aid, as part of the parish’s fundraising attempts during Christian Aid Week.

Between 12th and 18th May 2013, Cumbernauld Old Parish Church, in Cumbernauld Village, raised the staggering four-figure sum though house-to-house collections.

“This money collected in this year's Christian Aid Week house-to-house collection in the parish of Cumbernauld Old has now been counted and the provisional total raised was a superb £2402.73,” a spokesperson for the Church said.

Although minor adjustments to the final total are expected, £1,268.76 of the total has been supported by Gift-Aid, which means that hundreds of pounds extra will be sent to Christian Aid by the UK Treasury.

The spokesperson added: “On top of that sum our Boys' Brigade Company raised over £400 for Christian Aid at their annual display, so thanks to everyone who contributed in any way, either with their time or with their money.”

Christian Aid was founded in 1945 and works with people of all faiths and none, globally, to eradicate the causes of poverty, striving to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all.
