Cumbernauld's Labour MP, Gregg McClymont.

LABOUR Member of Parliament for Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East has spoken of last night’s Better Together meeting, to Cumbernauld Media.

Mr McClymont, Labour’s shadow Work and Pensions Minister chaired the Better Together meeting at Cumbernauld’s Cornerstone House, yesterday evening. He was joined by Better Together’s Director of Communications, Rob Shorthouse, who talked to the audience about the upcoming Cumbernauld and Kilsyth battle to keep Scotland as part of the United Kingdom.

Commenting after the meeting, Mr McClymont said that the meeting followed the June 1st launch of the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Better Together campaign, at St. Mungo’s Parish Church.

The town’s MP said: “The meeting was a follow up to the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Better together launch at the beginning of June.”

Gregg, who urged the event’s attendees to “get campaigning” and “take forward the truth that we are ‘better together’”, at the meeting, added his admiration for those people who have always been apolitical for attending the meeting.

He said: “It was great to see new faces who have never been involved in politics before. The mood of the meeting was clear: the UK is Better Together”.
