Cumbernauld union prepares for Thursday rally

TOMORROW, Chancellor George Osborne will announce his ‘Spending Review’, with a number £billions cuts to public spending expected. On Thursday, however, the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Public & Commercial Services Union, at HMRC, will be holding a rally against the UK Governments cuts.

“The Public & Commercial Services Union are holding a national day of protest on Thursday 27th June against the cuts,” Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Public & Commercial Services Union Secretary, John Miller told Cumbernauld Media.

“On Wednesday 26th June the chancellor will announce further welfare cuts, job losses and attacks on public sector workers terms and conditions,” Mr Miller continued.

Members of the public are invited to attend the PCS HMRC branch’s rally, on Thursday, which will be held at the stairs leading up to St. Mungo’s Parish Church, from 1pm onwards.

John added: “PCS HMRC branch are holding a rally at St Mungo’s steps at 1pm on Thursday 27th June.  Speakers include HMRC enquiry centre campaigner, the no2bedroomtax campaign and a local anti-cuts group speaker.

“The cuts agenda is to close all 281 local offices to the public with a threat to 1,300 jobs nationally,” Mr Miller concluded.
