Cumbernauld College students offered Glasgow 2014 stewarding opportunities

Cumbernauld College students offered 2014 Games role; Clyde is the official Games mascot. 

STUDENTS at Cumbernauld College are being offered the opportunity to help make the Legacy of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games massive, with the college offering students the chance to be a steward at the events.

“Cumbernauld College and Motherwell College are offering a brilliant opportunity for you to be part of the Commonwealth 2014 Games in Glasgow and other major events in Scotland as a security steward,” a college spokesperson said.

“Both Colleges are offering a free and unique Employability and Skills Programme, which will allow students to gain nationally recognised qualifications in security and spectator safety. The programme is run in partnership with Skills Development Scotland and will provide two weeks’ work experience at a top UK event security company.”

The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games are 381 days away, and has witnesses one of the biggest regeneration efforts in Glasgow; Glasgow housing; and transportation links.

“On successful completion of the programme, students will be guaranteed an interview for the security team at the Commonwealth Games 2014 and be key in the running of the event,” the spokesperson continued.

“Furthermore, all applicants will be able to apply for the SIA licence, fully funded by both colleges, which allows you to work across a variety of sectors including sporting and entertainment events.

“This programme is aimed towards anyone aged 18 or over and working less than 16 hours a week, retired or unemployed. Completion of this Employability & Skills programme will make your CV stand out from the crowd and will significantly improve your job prospects.”

Tuesday 16th July Cumbernauld College - 12-2pm 4-6pm
Wednesday 17th July Motherwell College - 12-2pm 4-6pm.
