AS ACTIVISTS from both the Better Together and Yes Scotland campaigns begin to step up their fight against and for a yes vote in next year’s independence referendum, with both campaigns in attendance at a number of key events, the splinter ‘United with Labour’ campaign will be bringing its message to Cumbernauld, this weekend.

“Scottish Labour have launched our dedicated referendum campaign – United with Labour. In the past couple of months, Labour activists have been out, up and down the country, making our positive case to the people of Scotland,” Anas Sarwar MP, Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party said.

United with Labour is a campaign run by the Scottish Labour Party; campaigning for a majority no vote in next year’s independence referendum after former Prime Minister Gordon Brown launched the campaign on May, 13th, 2013.

Mr Sarwar continued: “We need to continue this momentum. This weekend, hundreds of Labour Party activists will be out in towns and cities all over Scotland in our first National Campaign Weekend.

“This is a campaign Scottish Labour will fight on our values: Fairness, Equality, Solidarity, Community and Social Justice. Values that are not a remnant of the past, but forces for good in the future.

In Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, key political figures have been leading the charge as the No and Yes camps try to persuade the electorate of why they should vote for or against independence in next September’s referendum.
Mr Sarwar added: “But we need your help to fight a strong campaign. By getting involved with United with Labour you can play your part. We know that when we come together, we win together, and through the collective effort of our thousands of members and activists, we can out-campaign and out-organise the SNP campaign. “
The United with Labour campaign will be bringing the message to shoppers at Tesco Craigmarloch, this Saturday, from 10am, as the 400 day countdown to the September 18th, 2014 referendum approaches, when voters will be asked, “Should Scotland be an independent country?”
