Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Cumbernauld Shopping Centre urged local people to come out and support, explaining: “This is the only specialist charity in Scotland providing a lifetime commitment of support services, training and projects for everyone affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.”

The Scottish Spina Bifida Association provides support, advice and information to over 3,000 children, young people and adults affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus across Scotland; support which can include home and hospital visits, combined clinics, parent-toddler groups, adult social groups, information and training days, family and specialist conferences, lo-call helpline, family support centre with inclusive play area and health check clinics.

With less than 1% in government funding the Association have to raise nearly £1million annually so rely heavily on the support of others be they volunteering, donating, attending events or taking part in fundraising challenges.

The charity will be in Cumbernauld Shopping Centre between 9am and 5pm on Saturday, August 17th, 2013.
