Local SNP MSP Jamie Hepburn has confirmed the launch of the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Yes Scotland campaign.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, the MSP confirmed that the event took place outside the Cumbernauld News’s office in Cumbernauld Town Centre.

Tweeting at 11.12am, the MSP wrote, “Good turnout of @YesScotland campaigners in Cumbernauld Town Centre to collect signatures supporting the campaign. #yesscot”

Later, the MSP tweeted a picture of the event which confirmed attendees to include Cumbernauld South SNP Councillors William Goldie and Paddy Hogg, as well as Cumbernauld North SNP Councillor Alan Masterton.

The local event was also held in Condorrat and Kilsyth Main Streets, with a number of SNP activists trying to encourage people from all over Scotland to sign up to the ‘Yes Declaration,’ which the Yes Scotland wants to get 1’000’000 people signed up to before the referendum in 2014.

The day of action held throughout cities, towns and villages across Scotland is believed to be a pre-emptive strike to counter the launch of the ‘No’ campaign – tomorrow - which has been formally named as ‘Better Together.’

On the other hand, the local ‘Yes’ launch may not have been a counter campaign launch to the upcoming local ‘No’ campaign, which is believed to be held in a North Lanarkshire wide spectrum, as Yes Scotland has begun setting out a vision for independence and encourage people to ‘get the facts’ by telling colleagues, families and friends ‘ten things’.
