ONE of Glasgow’s much loved restaurants looks all set to open a brand new eatery in Condorrat, as the firm looks set to open its first branch in Cumbernauld.

Buddy’s Barbeque and Burgers has all but confirmed that they are planning to open a brand new restaurant on Condorrat’s Main Road, with the firm now appealing for interested locals to apply for positions at the soon-to-be restaurant.

No planning application or building warrant has been submitted to, or released yet, by North Lanarkshire Council, but a sign outside the former ‘Shimla Pinks’ Asian restaurant, at Dalshannon Farm, affirms suggestions that Buddy’s are coming to Cumbernauld.

The sign – posted to micro-blogging website, Twitter, earlier today (11th May 2014) – by a user naming himself simply as ‘Christopher’, simply reads: “Coming Soon Buddy's Bar, Diner, Grill”. ‘Christopher’ (@stubbornscot) merely writes: “Oh aye. Say it is so”.

Buddy's BBQ & Burgers has three branches; a sit-in diner on Pollokshaws Road, with a takeaway on the same street, and a takeaway in Skiving Street, with a variety of BBQ products, burgers and sides on the menu.

The chain has also earned a high level of respect from customers, with the firm’s average rating sitting at 4.5 out of 5 stars, on Facebook.

The restaurant chain is so popular that, on February 19th, when they announced to their fans that they had opened a new diner at 677-681 Pollokshaws Road, the announcement was shared by 376 people, although a firm confirmation of a restaurant in Cumbernauld remains to be seen, despite promising fans early this week (6th May 2014) that, “It's not far off now”, adding that an “announcement [is] coming soon...”

Fans had been asking about suggestions that the chain were to open in Cumbernauld since last month, when – on April 30th – the firm posted: “Announcement coming very soon”, although the company had already began to post vacancies for their new Cumbernauld location.

In an advert posted on Gumtree, last month, the chain declares that they are looking for “Front of House Staff”, for a “Buddy's Bar Diner Grill”, in Cumbernauld

The contract being offered is described as “permanent”, in the advert, with the listing confirming: “Buddy's Bar Diner Grill opening soon near Cumbernauld.”

“Full and part time front of house staff required across all positions in a busy American-style barbecue joint and diner,” the vacancy posting explains.

The advert adds: “Experience essential due to high volume of customers.  Competitive rates of pay, with on-going training provided.”

Rumours have been rife since earlier this year that a burger restaurant was to take over the vacant Dalshannon Farm building on Condorrat’s Main Road, despite no planning application or building warrant has been submitted to, or released, by North Lanarkshire Council, to date.
