ABRONHILL Regeneration Forum has welcomed a donation by local community partner, Spar Stores, following on from the group’s successful Gala Day, earlier this summer.

Members of Abronhill Regeneration Forum were invited along the Spar store in Abronhill Shopping Centre on Monday afternoon (14 July), where the group received a generous donation from the newsagents.

Spar stores have some 12,322 stores in 34 countries – 2,400 of which are in the United Kingdom, and employ over 50,000 people – making 15million transactions every week to some 5million customers.

On Monday afternoon the local franchise store in Abronhill – which is licensed by CJ Lang and Son Limited, in Dundee – gifted £2,000 to Abronhill Regeneration Forum.

Collecting the cheque was Forum chair Margaret Devlin, who was joined by members Helen Hutcheson, Kevin McMail, Councillor Liz Irvine and Jenny Burgon.

Abronhill Regeneration Forum is the group responsible for putting together the annual community Gala Day in Abronhill.

The group also assisted the ‘Save Abronhill High School’ in their battle to save the Gregory’s Girl school from closure and helps to pull together various other community events.

More recently, Abronhill Regeneration Forum member Gail MacDonald brought plans for a new play area in Broom Road to fruition, and ensured that visitors to Abronhill were thoroughly welcomed to the area by two new road signs – one on Forest Road and another at Whitelees Roundabout.
