THE sun was shining in the mid-afternoon last Saturday (20th June), when pupils of Eastfield Primary and Nursery School, in Cumbernauld, and their parents showed out to support the school’s parent council at their annual summer fete.

Held between 11am and 2pm last Saturday (20th June), the Cairntoul Court school’s annual summer fete basked in lukewarm sunshine last weekend, as students of the primary school and its adjoining nursery enjoyed the variety of activities which were on offer throughout the day.

Activities included sponge the teacher, a bouncy castle, live DJ, live stage acts, raffle, tombola, and beat the goalie, while the ice cream van was on hand to fill kids full of sugar, before sending them onto the large inflatable slide to burn off some of their energy.

Pulled together by the Parent Council and Parent Forum at Eastfield Primary School and Nursery, the annual summer fete was a bid to encourage the community into the school and raise money for the school.

Commenting on the success of the event, which seen hundreds of visitors over the course of the day, one on the fete’s organisers hailed it a “great event”, explaining that it had “brought together the whole community”.

“We are delighted to say that an outstanding amount of money has been raised as part of the Eastfield Primary School and Nursery Summer Fete on Saturday 20th June,” they commented, before adding a thank you to “everyone who helped make the day possible.”
