TRIBUTES are being paid via social networking sites this evening after the man who lost his life in Kildrum last night was named locally as Jodie McLean.

Mr McLean, understood to be a resident of the Carbrain area of Cumbernauld, lost his life in Monklands Hospital late last night, following an incident in Kildrum.

Although the police have not yet confirmed that the body is indeed that of Mr McLean, Police Scotland has confirmed that a 46-year-old man died in hospital, after he was discovered seriously injured in Kildrum’s Afton Road.

A spokeswoman for the force explained that at “around 2340 hours” on Friday night “police were called to a report that a man had fallen from a third floor window at a block of maisonette flats in Afton Road, Cumbernauld.”

On arrival at the scene, officers discovered Mr McLean was “seriously injured”, and was taken by ambulance to Monklands District General Hospital.

The police spokeswoman added that the man was “found to be dead on arrival” at the hospital, in Airdrie.

The spokeswoman explained that although “enquiries are continuing”, a “post mortem is due to take place to establish the exact cause of his death,” while “a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal,” she added.

Police officers remain at the scene in Kildrum this afternoon, with much of the area cordoned off, and door-to-door enquiries continuing.

As police enquiries continue, however, people are already marking the loss, with posts on social media offering his family and friends condolences, with some people offering up anecdotes about the 46-year-old.

One Facebook user posted that Cumbernauld “town centre won't be the same without him floating about it”, while another user of the website said: “I don't know who would've done this to you as you were always pleasant. Fly with the angels.”
