A MAN has been arrested for the suspected murder of Anthony Laurie in Cumbernauld, on Thursday night, police say.

Police Scotland has confirmed that a 25-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of the murder of Kildrum resident Anthony Laurie, following a “disturbance” in Carbrain, last Thursday.

Officers were called to reports of a “disturbance” in Glenhove Road at around midnight on Thursday night.

Upon arrival officers discovered 25-year-old Anthony Laurie seriously injured, but he died a little later, after being admitted to Monklands Hospital.

With much of the area cordoned off throughout Friday, Police said that the man’s death was being treated as “suspicious”, before using an appeal for information to help officers track Mr Laurie’s actions before Thursday night.
