Body found in Abronhill area of Cumbernauld

A BODY was found in the Abronhill area of Cumbernauld, earlier today (2 December), Police Scotland has confirmed to Cumbernauld Media.

Suggestions posted on social media throughout the day had stirred up rumours that the incident had been a murder, but Police Scotland has confirmed those suggestions to be inaccurate.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland told Cumbernauld Media that a body had indeed been discovered in the Blackthorn Road area of Abronhill, Cumbernauld, earlier today (2 December).

The spokeswoman has confirmed that the body of a 59-year-old male was discovered in the area, earlier today - but stressed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

The spokeswoman couldn't confirm whether the victim was local to either Abronhill or Cumbernauld, but the spokeswoman did explain that the victim's next of kin had been informed of the death.

Police were also able to confirm that the body was discovered at 4:30am, earlier today (2 December), while the Police Scotland spokeswoman stressed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
