ANOTHER specially arranged debate surrounding the question of whether or not Scotland should be an independent question is to be held in Cumbernauld later this week.

The Public and Commercial Services union has confirmed that they are to host a special hustings event – which will be centred around the question of Scottish independence – this Thursday, in Cumbernauld New Town Hall.

Called “PCS Informs – you decide”, Thursday evening’s event will be the latest in a series of events to be held by the PCS union in the run-up to the independence referendum, in less than six weeks’ time.

Although the event will be open to members of the public, priority will be given to members of the union –although a big turnout is anticipated to greet the already confirmed line-up.

PCS has confirmed that John Jamieson, a member of PCS’s National Executive Committee will chair the evening’s proceeding, alongside panellists John Foster, from Red Paper Collective; Cat Boyd, from Yes Scotland; Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East Labour MP, Gregg McClymont, from Better Together – as well as a special guest from Radical Independence, who is yet to be lined up.

Kicking off at 6pm, and lasting until approximately 8pm, in the Craigieburn Suite of Cumbernauld New Town Hall, the hustings will allow attendees to hear the perspectives of each of the panellists – as well as their responses to key demands from PCS – where after the floor will be opened to the audience for questions and contributions.

The event is non-ticketed, and free to enter. Priority will be given to PCS members, but the evening is open to members of the public – if they wish to attend. The event will start at 6pm sharp, in the Craigieburn Suite at Cumbernauld New Town Hall, this Thursday evening (14th August 2014).
